WESTLAKE HS FROSH/SOPH GIRLS BASKETBALL
FINISHES SEASON UNDEFEATED
The Westlake High School Frosh/Soph Girls Basketball Team capped off
an undefeated season with a 41-20 defeat of visiting Moorpark High School
on Thursday afternoon. Westlake ended the season 21-0 after sweeping
through the Marmonte League Schedule.
The team also went undefeated on the road to two tournament championships,
winning the Westlake Winter Invitational Championship by defeating Camarillo,
Birmingham, Royal and then Newbury Park in the final, 34-27. Westlake
also took the championship of the Camarillo Winter Classic by beating
Newbury Park, Moorpark and then Agoura in the final, 33-26.
Lead by first year Head Coach Nick Kindel and Assistant Coach Kerrie
Marshall, Westlake faced several challenges during the season, including
two tough games against rival Thousand Oaks High School; games in which
Westlake trailed by significant scores only to comeback and win. The
team of five sophomores and five freshmen were poised and prepared for
the season and they look forward to the various spring leagues and next
fall's Marmonte League season
